Delete API-Permission Denied

Hi, Can we delete default existing templates or only created templates can be deleted? I was trying to delete default 320x180 template using python API and I am getting output: u'Not allowed to delete required template' or I can reset/update it as "Non-default" using update API call; will this be equivalent to delete i.e. recover space used by 320x180 encoding file?? Thanks
